PS4 Facebook Integration Comes to an End For Now

PS4 Brick Message

Sony has disabled the PS4 Facebook feature that allows users to link their console to their Facebook account. This has resulted in the loss of PSN Avatar images for those who used their Facebook profile picture as their PS4 PSN avatar. The feature also lets users share gameplay, trophy awards and screenshots to the platform.

Sony did not reveal the cause of the change but apologized for the inconvenience. They recommend users switch to a PSN avatar if their photo is now blank due to the integration feature being disabled.

According to Kotaku, Facebook plans on improving the integration and Sony disabled the feature until the two companies can work out a new plan.

“We’re working with Sony to finalize an updated contract designed to improve the Facebook integration on PlayStation. While these discussions are in progress, Facebook features will not be available on PlayStation 4. We hope to bring these features back as soon as our teams reach an agreement.”

We reported a while back that users were sharing PSN activities on the social media platform without consent. Even if you turned off the feature years ago, it was enabled again through a system update and users had to go disable it. Hopefully, the new changes that will arrive in the distant future will fix that problem as it would post a new activity on Facebook every time you booted up a new game, spamming your feed.

We don’t know how long it will take before a new system is in place but for now, you won’t be able to find your Facebook friends through the PSN and add them with real names, share any content to the social media platform or post activity updates to the platform.
