Microsoft Won’t Reveal Xbox Live Monthly Active Users Anymore

Xbox Live Microsoft

In a move that shouldn’t surprise anyone, Microsoft won’t be revealing Xbox Live Monthly Active Users number anymore. Earlier in this generation of consoles, Microsoft also stopped revealing Xbox One sales figures as the PS4 continued to extend its commanding lead. Now, Microsoft will reportedly only reveal growth going forward.

This news was first spotted by DomsPlaying and posted on Twitter, revealing the changes that will take place according to a Microsoft presentation. Check out the tweet below including an image showing what Microsoft plans to reveal going forward.

As gamers, it is interesting to see the Xbox Live Monthly Active Users number as that shows you how many people make use of the service and it gives you an idea of how many people are interested in multiplayer. However, we won’t see these numbers going forward. The big takeaways here are the following as reported and explained by WindowsCentral:

  • Year-over-year percentage revenue growth for Xbox services will be revealed.
  • This figure will include Xbox Game Pass and other sources of gaming revenue.
  • Xbox Live Monthly Active Users won’t be reported going forward.
  • Gaming revenue will continue to be disclosed in the Securities and Exchange Commission filings.

When the competition is tough, it is probably much easier to say “30% growth” instead of giving an actual number. It looks better, after all.
