New Final Fantasy VII: Remake Screens Reveal Stunning Locations, Menus and More

Final Fantasy VII Remake trailer Sony Square Enix PS4 TGS 2019

Final Fantasy VII: Remake is releasing in March 2020 and the new screenshots released by Square Enix show off a game that is looking better and better as the weeks go by. The latest batch of screens was posted on the PlayStation Blog where Square Enix detailed the new features we can expect from the game when it releases on 3 March 2020 only on PS4.

The blog detailed the new weapon ability system that sees each weapon contain a unique ability that increases as you use them. Once the ability has been mastered, then it is stored on the player so you don’t have to wield the weapon anymore. Anyone familiar with Final Fantasy IX’s weapon system will feel right at home here with this.

Another screenshot shows off the Classic combat mode which can be toggled in the settings.

Classic Mode can be activated by selecting “CLASSIC” from the difficulty menu. In Classic Mode, party members will act automatically, with the ATB gauge filling up as they do so. In this mode, the player only needs to select which abilities, magic, and items they will use their ATB charges for. This brings the feel of the gameplay closer to the menu-based battles from the original FFVII but with the amazing immersive graphics of the remake

The blog also explained how summons will work saying players can equip Summon Materia and summon powerful allies into combat. These summons will fight alongside you until their ATB charges deplete which will then trigger a special move. The screenshots show off Chocobo’s “Stampede” move being performed.

Other screenshots reveal more about the game’s stunning world, intense combat and tough boss fights which we will be taking on next year. Any fan of the original game will recognise something in these screens they remember from the original game.
