Over the weekend and into the early hours of the morning, there was some great Dota 2 esports taking place as the Summit 11 Minor kicked off the new Dota Pro Circuit season. During the group stage, we saw an upset with NiP getting eliminated by Jfshfh178, the Russian team that took the place of Virtus.Pro. Now, the dust is settling over Los Angeles as the Chinese team Invictus Gaming has claimed the title.
As mentioned in our report about the playoffs, Chaos EC and Invictus Gaming were two of the favourites going into this Dota 2 esports tournament and guess who made it to the grand finals? Chaos EC and Invictus Gaming. Chaos EC (who recently announced their new roster) knocked Jfshfh178 down in the first round of the upper bracket and then had to face Invictus Gaming in the upper bracket finals, while Invictus beat down Hellraisers in their first round.
Invictus Gaming managed to beat Chaos EC 2-0 and moved on to the grand finals. Chaos EC then took down Hellraisers to make it to the grand finals where Invictus Gaming delivered a 3-0 stomp to claim first place at the Summit 11 Minor with $72,000 and 140 Dota Pro Circuit points as their reward.

With the win, the Chinese squad has shown that they are still a force to be reckoned with and while Chaos EC didn’t win, the team looks pretty strong going into the new Dota Pro Circuit season.
